The Open Source White Paper (http://home.netscape.com/comprod/products/communicator/whit_papers/source.html) provides an excellent background on Netscape's approach to the open source movement. Also, check out Kevin Kelly's “New Rules for a New Economy” at http://www.wired.com/wired/5.09/newrules.html. Most of Netscape's moves have been in complete alignment with Kelly's rules. Which makes sense, because in many ways, Netscape wrote those rules, or at least discovered them.
